Strategic Planning Council Charge (2026)
The Strategic Planning Counsil is charged with promoting and supporting the people and programs of Salisbury University by providing strategic leadership on the implementation and assessment of the SU Strategic Plan to help assure that resource allocation is in alignment with strategic priorities. The Council serves as an advisory and collaborative body, offering recommendations and feedback to the President and Cabinet to support institutional planning and decision-making consistent with established university roles and responsibilities.
The Council shall operate with transparency, inclusivity, and a commitment to the university's mission. Its recommendations are consultative in nature. The President and Cabinet will consider the Council's input and communicate decisions and rationale back to the Council in a timely manner, reinforcing a culture of genuine shared governance.
The Council is charged to:
- Advise and inform: Provide recommendations to the President and Cabinet on priorities, progress, and adjustments related to strategic plan implementation.
- Monitor and assess: Regularly review institutional data and progress reports to evaluate advancement toward strategic goals and identify areas needing attention or course correction.
- Facilitate communication: Serve as a bridge between the broader university community -faculty, staff, and students - and institutional leadership, ensuring diverse voices are heard in the planning process.
- Champion transparency: Promote open and consistent communication about the Strategic Plan's progress to all campus stakeholders.
- Support implementation: Assist in coordinating cross-divisional efforts to advance strategic priorities, removing silos to encourage collaboration.
- Identify emerging needs: Surface new challenges, opportunities, or environmental changes that may require strategic attention or plan adjustments.
- Engage the community: Facilitate forums, listening sessions, or surveys to gather ongoing input from the campus community and report findings to leadership.
To help meet this charge, the Council will engage in information exchange and ongoing dialogue through the Strategic Planning Council dashboard website, open meetings, and routine two-way communication with campus members to enhance a meaningful advisory relationship. Divisions will provide their Strategic Plan information to the Council with an open feedback loop to give and exchange information. The Council will share feedback with the President and Cabinet.
Strategic Planning Council Proposed Membership (2026)
Each division will decide who represents them for a one-year term.; At the end of every academic year, the divisions, co-chairs, and the President can assess the committee make up to make any needed changes.
