SU Commencement Returns to Wicomico Civic Center in 2027

SALISBURY, MD---Sea Gull graduates and their families will have the opportunity to enjoy new amenities and upgrades as Salisbury University’s annual Commencement ceremonies return to the recently renovated Wicomico Civic Center in 2027.
Graduate students will cross the stage at the center’s Normandy Arena on Wednesday, May 19, followed by undergraduates during two ceremonies on Thursday, May 20.
The return to the Civic Center follows a two-year hiatus during which Commencement was held on SU’s campus as part of the SU Centennial, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the institution’s opening.
Since moving to the Civic Center in the 1970s, nearly every SU Commencement has been held there. (The 1978 and 1979 ceremonies were relocated while the current facility was under construction following a fire that destroyed the original Civic Center in June 1977.)
Following its recent 18-month, $10 million-plus renovation, the facility features a new box office and expanded lobby, as well as improved ADA access and enhanced safety features.
