SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University junior Jenna Peace was named a 2025 Outstanding Undergraduate Student of the Year by the Eta Sigma Gamma (ESG) National Health Education Honor Society and the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC).
“Jenna is another shining example of the amazing public health students at SU who continue to represent our program's national successes and achievements,” said Dr. Brandye Nobiling, professor and SU Public Health Program director. “We are so proud of Jenna's leadership in ESG and her aspiring career in the field of public health"
The award recognizes outstanding students majoring in health education from colleges or universities that have professional preparation programs and is presented at the National Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) annual conference.
“Not only was I surprised to win this award, but realizing the level of the honor while at the conference was so impactful,” said Peace. “Networking with other health education students, learning from research presenters at the top of their respective fields and absorbing new ideas for ESG collegiate programming were all major highlights.”
The North East, MD, native is president of SU’s Epsilon Xi chapter of ESG and plans to implement much of what she learned over the next academic year.
“I’m so excited and inspired to help SU public health students explore grants and new educational opportunities, and try innovative outreach efforts,” she said.
Peace also credited her achievement to those who have helped her throughout her undergraduate career.
“The majority of my success is due to the support of my public health peers and professors in the program,” she said. “We have a true close-knit community that is always there to support one another. You can tell how much the faculty care about their students and how passionate they are about their areas of study.
“I consider the students one big family. We help each other with school, support one another emotionally and make each other better, which makes it easier to focus and succeed in the classroom.”
